Rolando Anselmi is pleased to announce Emersi, Gianni Pellegrini's first solo exhibition at the gallery in Rome, curated by Gianluca Ranzi. The exhibition, set up on the two floors of the gallery, presents a selection of new works specifically conceived for the occasion, representing the development of the investigation into the constituent elements of painting and the relationship between light and color that has characterized the artist's research since 1970s. Pellegrini's paintings - whose work is developed in series - originate from an accumulation of imperceptible layers of paint spread uniformly over the surface. The linear austerity of Pellegrini's early works, rooted in the analytical experiments of Objective Abstraction, is transfigured in the new body of work in a sophisticated layering of lighting planes, towards an increasingly ethereal dimension already announced in the previous series and evidenced in the exhibition by two works from the Profili cycle. Emersi is characterized by a vibrant quality created by delicate veils of color, reducing the composition to a field of light of varying intensity. The colors of his works thus emerge as dematerialized planes, which become ethereal presences and accentuate the perception of the chromatic tensions within the painting, radiating towards the surrounding environment.
