ADÉLA JANSKÁ: residency program and solo exhibition

Rolando Anselmi is pleased to announce the launch of Rolando Anselmi Upstairs, the first residency program in its new space in the city of Rome. The residency program encourages the production of an original body of works, created in situ, in dialogue with the city and its particular artistic heritage. At the end of the residency period, the artist studio will become an exhibition space to host the artist's solo presentation, which will be open to the public for the following weeks. The first residency program and solo exhibition is by the Czech artist Adéla Janskà. Her paintings explore femininity, often depicting solitary female figures inhabiting spaces reminiscent of dollhouses. The artist creates a magical space where sensual experiences evoke the feeling of faded memories of another time and realm. These figures, with their glossy skin resembling porcelain or plastic, appear isolated within circumscribed environments, set against vibrant backgrounds marked by fragmentary glimpses of undefined domestic environments. Sometimes they are absorbed in their activities, other times they face the viewer with a defiant and sensual gaze, mixing strength and fragility. Infused with a magical ability to suspend time and space, these paintings are not simply portraits but depictions of collective female identities, fictional selves navigating the tension between exposure and concealment. Janská's work offers a unique interpretation of contemporary feminism, inviting viewers to engage with the familiar and the mysterious, evoking a sense of intimacy and reflection on the collective female experience.
